چکیده

The aim of this study was to analyse the impact sex hormone fluctuations throughout menstrual cycle on cardiorespiratory response high-intensity interval exercise in athletes. Twenty-one eumenorrheic endurance-trained females performed an running protocol three phases: early-follicular phase (EFP), late-follicular (LFP) and mid-luteal (MLP). It consisted 8 × 3-min bouts at 85% their maximal aerobic speed with 90-s recovery 30% speed. To verify phase, we applied a three-step method: calendar-based counting, urinary luteinizing measurement serum analysis. Mixed-linear model for repeated measures showed ventilatory (EFP: 78.61 ± 11.09; LFP: 76.45 11.37; MLP: 78.59 13.43) heart rate 167.29 11.44; 169.89 10.62; 11.35) (F2.59 = 4.300; p 0.018 F2.61 4.648; 0.013, respectively). Oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide production, respiratory exchange ratio, breathing frequency, energy expenditure, relative perceived exertion readiness were unaltered by phase. Most variables measured appear be impassive phases seems that are not high enough disrupt tissues’ adjustments caused exercise. Nevertheless, HR based training programs should consider

Endurance capacity and cardiorespiratory responses in sedentary females during different phases of menstrual cycle.

BACKGROUND Alteration in physical work capacity of females during different phases of menstrual cycle has been reported in different populations. Pertinent data is unavailable in Eastern Indian population. OBJECTIVES The present study was aimed to determine the endurance capacity and cardiorespiratory responses during different phases of menstrual cycle in young sedentary females of Eastern r...

Exercise-Induced Inflammation during Different Phases of the Menstrual Cycle

Objective: To examine the effects of menstrual cycle on exercise-induced inflammation, we investigated exercise-induced changes in circulating cytokines and leukocyte responses during different phases of the menstrual cycle. Methods: Ten healthy sedentary females (20.5 ± 0.7 years) performed 60 min of cycling at 75% of their individual anaerobic threshold (AT) during the three different phases ...

Effects of Estrogen Fluctuation during the Menstrual Cycle on the Response to Stretch-Shortening Exercise in Females

The aim of this study was to investigate whether variation in estrogen levels during the menstrual cycle influences susceptibility to exercise-induced muscle damage after stretch-shortening cycle exercise. Physically active women (n = 18; age = 20.2 ± 1.7 yr) participated in this research. The subjects performed one session of 100 maximal drop jumps on day 1 or 2 of the follicular phase and ano...

Oral Contraceptive Use May Attenuate Menstrual Cycle-Induced Ventilatory Changes in Endurance Trained Runners

The relationship between two menstrual cycle phases and cardio respiratory fitness in athletes on oral contraceptives and not on oral contraceptives was assessed in a pilot study. Twelve endurance-trained college cross country runners underwent maximal oxygen consumption treadmill testing, during the late follicular/ovulatory phase and late luteal/premenstrual phase of their menstrual cycle. No...

Effects of the menstrual cycle on expiratory resistance during whole body exercise in females.

Our objective was to determine if the menstrual cycle affected expiratory resistance developed during progressive incremental exercise in females. Eleven females (age = 19.7 ± 1.1 yr., body mass = 58.9 ± 8.8 Kg, height = 1.65 ± 0.3 m) gave consent to participate in the study. Participants were studied during the follicular (day 7 ± 2 days following onset of menses) and luteal (day 21 ± 2 days f...
